Directed by the legendary William Friedken, Killer Joe is a truly hard-boiled noir thriller. It paints a stereotypical portrait of Texans, but it’s a solid exploitation piece in the vein of Tarantino, so that’s the sort of thing you would expect. Extremely well-edited, acted and executed, the film is hair-raising and funny at times. Unfortunately a bit misogynistic, but that’s the writing–things included and not.
