Bye Bye Red Light Cameras

Los Angeles’ red-light traffic camera program officially ends this week, after the Police Commission voted on Tuesday to stop collecting fines from violators caught on film.

The cameras were turned off eight months ago, and the commission voted 3-0 to formally stop collecting unpaid tickets as of Saturday.

Read more about the red light violators who will be off the hook as of today on the Daily News.

  1. Are they also going to refund people who paid? If not, it seems a little unfair that people who haven’t paid up yet get rewarded for being less responsible than those who paid right away.

  2. That’s a great point. I paid one of those red light tickets myself–$600–and then found out later if I hadn’t responded, nothing would have happened. The system was not well thought out in any aspect.
